Liley Hat Trick Powers Purdue Fort Wayne Past Defiance, 5-0

Purdue Fort Wayne closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule in dominant fashion Wednesday night, rolling past Defiance College 5-0 at the Hefner Soccer Complex.

Jackson Liley provided the headline performance for the Mastodons, recording a hat trick as Purdue Fort Wayne improved to 2-2 on the season and remained perfect at home.

The Mastodons controlled the match from the opening whistle, but it took until the 22nd minute to break through.

Daven Arias scored his first collegiate goal to put Purdue Fort Wayne ahead 1-0. Aidan Antcliff started the sequence with a long ball out of the defensive half to Max Titterington, who helped set up Arias for the finish.

Brandon Razo doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 42nd minute. It was Razo’s second goal of the season and sent the Mastodons into halftime leading 2-0.

Then Liley took over.

The junior converted another penalty kick in the 53rd minute to make it 3-0 before adding his second goal in the 83rd minute off an assist from Antonio Tiscareno.

Liley completed the hat trick with just 13 seconds remaining, giving Purdue Fort Wayne the 5-0 final margin. It marked the program’s first hat trick since the 2024 season.

Purdue Fort Wayne dominated the statistics as well, outshooting Defiance 24-4 and putting 10 shots on goal. The Mastodons also generated a remarkable 16 corner kicks while not allowing Defiance a single corner.

Sep Habibi, David Valencia and Tegan Gumbs shared the goalkeeping duties and combined for three saves as Purdue Fort Wayne recorded its second consecutive shutout.

The Mastodons have now outscored their last two opponents 10-0 after also defeating Manchester 5-0 on September 3.

Purdue Fort Wayne finishes non-conference play at 2-2 and now turns its attention to Horizon League competition.

The Mastodons travel to Indianapolis Saturday for an in-state showdown against IU Indy. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
