Indy Eleven Earns Road Point at New Mexico

Indy Eleven went west Friday night and came away with a point, battling Western Conference leader New Mexico United to a 2-all draw in Albuquerque.

New Mexico struck first in the 16th minute, when Luther Archimede put the hosts in front.

But the Boys in Blue needed only two minutes to respond.

In the 18th minute, Greg Hurst found the equalizer for Indy, sending the match into halftime tied at one.

Indy then grabbed its first lead shortly after the break.

Malik Henry-Scott scored in the 50th minute, putting the Boys in Blue ahead, 2-to-1.

New Mexico answered nine minutes later.

In the 59th minute, Jack Blake scored against his former club to bring New Mexico level at two.

Neither side could find a winner from there.

Indy did plenty with limited possession. New Mexico controlled 71 percent of the ball, but Indy put seven shots on target compared with five for United.

The result moves Indy to 8-6-and-8 with 30 points, while Western Conference leader New Mexico moves to 12-5-and-5 with 41 points.

It’s a second consecutive 2-all draw for the Boys in Blue following last weekend’s dramatic result against Birmingham.
