Girls HS Soccer Rankings for Week 4 Released

Hamilton Southeastern remains the team to beat in Class 3A, but the latest Indiana Soccer Coaches Association girls soccer rankings feature plenty of movement behind the Royals — including a new No. 1 in Class 2A.
Hamilton Southeastern holds onto the top spot in 3A, with Homestead remaining No. 2 and Carmel staying No. 3. Westfield and Center Grove trade places at Nos. 4 and 5.
The major change comes in Class 2A, where Evansville Memorial jumps from No. 2 to No. 1 and Brebeuf Jesuit makes a two-position climb to No. 2. Last week’s No. 1, South Bend Saint Joseph, falls to No. 4.
In Class 1A, Westview remains No. 1, but Forest Park and Fort Wayne Blackhawk switch positions behind Oldenburg Academy.
CLASS 3A: HSE AND HOMESTEAD ARE MAKING THEIR CASE
There is no debate at the top of the ISCA Class 3A poll.
Hamilton Southeastern remains No. 1 after improving to 10-0. The Royals capped another dominant week Saturday with a 9-0 victory over Fort Wayne Carroll.
HSE also defeated Fishers during the week and has established itself as the state’s team to beat heading into the second half of September.
But Homestead is making a very strong case at No. 2.
The Spartans improved to 8-0 with an incredible Saturday doubleheader. Homestead dismantled Fishers 7-0 and then defeated highly regarded Center Grove 3-1 later in the day.
Those two results give Homestead one of the strongest Saturdays any Indiana girls team has produced this season.
Carmel remains No. 3, while Westfield moves from No. 5 to No. 4.
Center Grove drops from No. 4 to No. 5 following the 3-1 loss to Homestead.
Zionsville is another team moving upward. The Eagles climb from No. 8 to No. 6 after a stretch that included Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Cathedral. Cathedral consequently slides from No. 6 to No. 7.
Noblesville falls one position to No. 8, while Lawrence North and Crown Point remain ninth and tenth.
One of the most noteworthy changes comes further down the poll.
Mishawaka Marian jumps three positions from No. 16 to No. 13, while Columbus North falls from No. 13 to No. 15. The Bull Dogs played Greenfield-Central to a scoreless draw Saturday.
Northrop enters the rankings at No. 18, while Lawrenceburg moves from No. 18 to No. 19.
Valparaiso enters at No. 20.

CLASS 2A: EVANSVILLE MEMORIAL TAKES OVER NO. 1
The biggest story in the girls rankings comes in Class 2A.
Evansville Memorial takes over the No. 1 position after being ranked second last week.
The Tigers put together a strong week, defeating Evansville North 2-0 Tuesday and routing Evansville Central 9-0 Thursday.
Memorial enters the new week at 7-2 with 36 goals scored and only nine allowed. The Tigers’ only losses have come against Evansville Mater Dei and 3A power Zionsville.
Avery Slade has been one of the catalysts for Memorial, recording 16 goals through the Tigers’ first nine matches.
Brebeuf Jesuit makes another significant move, climbing from No. 4 to No. 2.
Park Tudor remains No. 3.
The biggest fall at the top belongs to South Bend Saint Joseph. The Huskies were No. 1 last week but drop three positions to No. 4.
Evansville Mater Dei remains fifth.
Batesville climbs from No. 9 all the way to No. 6, while Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran makes one of the week’s biggest jumps, moving into the rankings at No. 7.

RECAP: WHAT WE LEARNED LAST WEEK
The biggest takeaway from last week’s action may be that Hamilton Southeastern and Homestead have separated themselves from the field in Class 3A.
HSE is now 10-0. The Royals finished the week by scoring nine against Carroll and continue to combine an explosive attack with a defense that has made life extremely difficult for opponents.
Homestead’s Saturday may have been even more eye-opening.
The Spartans defeated Fishers 7-0 and Center Grove 3-1 on the same day to improve to 8-0. Homestead has now won six matches by at least three goals.
Zionsville also strengthened its résumé with Saturday’s 1-0 win over Cathedral.
In Class 2A, Evansville Memorial made its case for No. 1 by posting consecutive shutouts. The Tigers beat 3A No. 14 Evansville North 2-0 and Evansville Central 9-0, scoring 11 times without conceding.
South Knox was among the 1A teams making noise, opening the week with a 5-0 victory over Vincennes Rivet.
The rankings reflect those results: HSE and Homestead remain 1-2 in 3A, Memorial takes over 2A, and Westview continues its run at No. 1 in 1A.
PREVIEW: A BIG WEEK STARTS IMMEDIATELY
There won’t be much time for the newly ranked teams to celebrate.
Monday’s statewide schedule features 69 IHSAA girls soccer matches, including several involving highly ranked teams.
North Central at No. 3 Carmel — Monday
Carmel begins the week against North Central.
The Greyhounds remain third in the ISCA poll and have an opportunity to continue applying pressure to HSE and Homestead at the top of 3A.
No. 4 Westfield at No. 7 Cathedral — Monday
This is one of the night’s premier matchups.
Westfield just moved ahead of Center Grove into the No. 4 position, while Cathedral dropped one spot following its 1-0 loss to Zionsville.
A Cathedral victory could immediately shake up next week’s Top 10, while Westfield has an opportunity to strengthen its claim as part of 3A’s championship-level group.
No. 5 Center Grove at Pike — Monday
Center Grove gets an immediate opportunity to respond after Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Homestead.
The Trojans slipped one position to No. 5 but remain firmly in the 3A championship conversation.
No. 1 Evansville Memorial vs. Castle — Tuesday
This will be the first match for Evansville Memorial since becoming the new No. 1 team in Class 2A.
Memorial hosts Castle Tuesday night in an important SIAC contest.
The Tigers have won three consecutive matches and have allowed no goals in their last two.
No. 1 Evansville Memorial at No. 8 Guerin Catholic — Saturday
Memorial’s week gets even more interesting Saturday.
The Tigers travel north to face No. 8 Guerin Catholic in a matchup between two ranked Class 2A programs.
It’s exactly the kind of game that can either solidify Memorial’s place at No. 1 or open the door for Brebeuf Jesuit, Park Tudor or South Bend Saint Joseph.
THE BIG PICTURE
Hamilton Southeastern remains the benchmark in Class 3A, but Homestead’s undefeated start — and particularly its victories over Fishers and Center Grove on the same Saturday — makes the Spartans a legitimate challenger for No. 1.
And don’t overlook Carmel, Westfield or Zionsville. All three remain positioned to make a run at the top.
Class 2A might be even more interesting.
Evansville Memorial has taken over No. 1, but Brebeuf Jesuit is surging, Park Tudor remains third and former No. 1 South Bend Saint Joseph is still sitting just three positions from the top.
Westview has been the most stable No. 1 of the three classes. But Forest Park’s jump to third and the movement throughout the rest of the 1A Top 20 shows there is plenty left to settle.
With several ranked teams meeting this week, the Week Five ISCA girls soccer rankings could look considerably different.
