Boys High School Recap from Monday

Monday’s Indiana high school boys soccer slate featured dominant performances from several of the state’s top-ranked teams, while a few close contests and high-scoring shootouts highlighted a busy night around the state.

In Class 3A, No. 10 Carroll (Fort Wayne) picked up an impressive victory over a ranked opponent, defeating Class 2A No. 9 Bishop Luers, 4-1.

Elsewhere, Munster earned a quality 1-0 victory over Lake Central, while East Noble edged Norwell 2-1. LaPorte also recorded a clean sheet with a 1-0 win against Glenn.

Class 2A

One of the biggest performances of the night came from No. 2 Mishawaka Marian. The Knights rolled past Elkhart Christian Academy 6-0, continuing their strong season and backing up their position near the top of the Class 2A poll.

No. 3 Park Tudor was also impressive, shutting out Herron 3-0.

Another ranked 2A program, No. 11 Southridge, exploded offensively in a 9-0 victory over South Spencer.

No. 14 South Bend Saint Joseph survived a battle with South Bend Adams, coming away with a 3-2 victory.

Andrean also delivered one of Monday’s most convincing performances with a 5-0 victory over Marquette Catholic, while Princeton shut out Mount Vernon (Posey) 3-0.

Vincennes Lincoln continued its strong season with a 3-1 victory over Vincennes Rivet.

Other notable results included Columbia City’s 5-1 victory over New Haven, Maconaquah’s 1-0 win over Western, Crawfordsville’s 1-0 victory against Benton Central, and Bedford North Lawrence’s 2-1 win over Edgewood.

Class 1A

Some of Indiana’s top Class 1A programs made major statements Monday night.

No. 1 Blackhawk Christian delivered perhaps the biggest one. The Braves shut out Class 2A No. 9 Bishop Luers 5-0, an impressive result against a ranked opponent from the larger classification.

No. 2 Faith Christian also recorded a shutout, defeating Northwestern 3-0.

No. 3 Shawe Memorial remained among the state’s hottest small-school programs with a 3-0 victory over Southwestern (Hanover).

No. 6 Oldenburg Academy defeated No. 19 Rising Sun 5-2 in a matchup featuring two ranked Class 1A teams.

Another Top-10 showdown saw No. 7 Northeast Dubois defeat No. 8 Forest Park, 2-1, giving Northeast Dubois an important victory against another highly regarded 1A opponent.

Christian Academy of Indiana, ranked No. 18, defeated Jennings County 4-1.

Goals, Goals and More Goals

Monday wasn’t short on offense.

Tipton produced the night’s largest margin with a 12-0 victory over Alexandria-Monroe.

Southridge scored nine in its shutout of South Spencer, Corydon Central defeated Salem 9-0, and Lighthouse Christian matched that score with a 9-0 victory over Mitchell.

Eastern Greene and North Knox combined for an incredible 14 goals, with Eastern Greene prevailing 8-6.

Taylor and Sheridan weren’t far behind. Taylor escaped with a wild 6-5 victory, as the two teams combined for 11 goals.

Cascade defeated Western Boone 6-3, while Greencastle continued its strong season with a 5-1 victory over Covington.

Other Monday Results

Merrillville blanked Kouts 2-0, North Putnam defeated Monrovia 3-1, South Dearborn edged Holy Cross (Kentucky) 2-1, and Lowell defeated Morgan Township 1-0.

Greensburg earned a 1-0 win over Switzerland County, Rushville defeated Knightstown 6-1, and Shelbyville survived a seven-goal contest against Batesville, 4-3.

North Harrison and Scottsburg finished regulation tied 1-1, with North Harrison prevailing in penalty kicks.

Eastern and Culver Community also finished level at 1-1.

With the regular season moving deeper into September, Monday provided another strong look at several potential postseason contenders. Blackhawk Christian, Mishawaka Marian, Faith Christian, Shawe Memorial and Park Tudor all delivered convincing victories, while Northeast Dubois picked up one of the night’s most significant wins by knocking off fellow Top-10 Class 1A opponent Forest Park.
