Indiana Soccer Preview for September 15th

Indiana Boys Soccer Preview: Ranked Teams Face Big Tests on Loaded Tuesday

A busy Tuesday night of Indiana high school boys soccer features nearly 100 matches around the state, with several of the state’s best teams facing potentially difficult tests.

The latest Indiana Soccer Coaches Association rankings were released Monday, and Tuesday provides the first opportunity for many of those teams to defend their new positions.

The night is highlighted by No. 4 Zionsville visiting No. 11 Noblesville in a Class 3A Top-20 showdown, No. 6 Fishers traveling to No. 14 Brownsburg, and top-ranked Bloomington South putting its unbeaten record on the line against Cathedral.

Class 2A No. 1 Guerin Catholic, No. 4 Park Tudor and No. 6 Covenant Christian are also in action, while Class 1A features a head-to-head ranked matchup between No. 20 Barr-Reeve and No. 14 South Knox.

3A: No. 4 Zionsville at No. 11 Noblesville

One of Tuesday’s premier matchups comes in Hamilton County as No. 4 Zionsville visits No. 11 Noblesville.

Zionsville enters at 6-1-1, while Noblesville is 5-3-2.

The Eagles moved up to fourth in this week’s ISCA Class 3A poll, while Noblesville remains firmly inside the Top 20.

It’s a significant test for both teams and one of several major matchups involving Hamilton County programs Tuesday night.

3A: No. 6 Fishers at No. 14 Brownsburg

Another ranked-on-ranked matchup sends No. 6 Fishers to No. 14 Brownsburg.

Fishers enters at 8-1-1 and has been one of the hottest teams in the state. Brownsburg is 3-2-3 but has already demonstrated its ability to compete against elite opposition.

The Bulldogs recently defeated Noblesville and have an opportunity to add another significant result against a Fishers team that climbed to sixth in the newest ISCA poll.

3A No. 1 Bloomington South Hosts Cathedral

The No. 1 team in Class 3A is in action when Bloomington South welcomes Cathedral.

The Panthers enter Tuesday unbeaten at 7-0-2 and climbed from third to first in the latest ISCA rankings.

Cathedral enters at 3-3-5. The Irish aren’t currently ranked, but their schedule and talent make this a dangerous matchup for Bloomington South.

Every game becomes a measuring stick once a team reaches No. 1, and Tuesday is Bloomington South’s first opportunity to defend that ranking.

3A No. 3 Goshen Hosts Bethany Christian

Goshen continues an impressive season when the third-ranked RedHawks host Bethany Christian.

Goshen enters at 9-1 and is coming off a 4-2 victory over Fort Wayne Northrop.

Bethany Christian is 5-3.

Goshen has climbed into the top three in Class 3A and another victory would keep the RedHawks firmly in the conversation for the top spot.

3A No. 5 Hamilton Southeastern Hosts Westfield

Another major Hamilton County matchup has No. 5 Hamilton Southeastern hosting Westfield.

HSE enters at 7-1-3, while Westfield is 4-2-3.

The Royals have remained among Indiana’s highest-ranked programs throughout the season and face another difficult Hoosier Crossroads Conference opponent Tuesday.

3A No. 10 Concord Hosts Northridge

No. 10 Concord welcomes Northridge in another important northern Indiana matchup.

Concord enters at 4-1-2, while Northridge is 5-4.

Concord jumped into the Top 10 in this week’s ISCA rankings and now gets an opportunity to protect that position against a familiar conference opponent.

3A No. 15 Lawrence North Visits Lawrence Central

No. 15 Lawrence North meets Lawrence Central in an Indianapolis rivalry matchup.

Lawrence North enters at 7-2-2, while Lawrence Central is 4-3-1.

Rivalry matches can produce unpredictable results, making this another potentially difficult night for a ranked team.

3A No. 17 Carmel Hosts North Central

No. 17 Carmel hosts North Central.

The Greyhounds enter at 3-3-2, while North Central is 5-1-3.

Despite North Central not appearing in this week’s ISCA Top 20, its record makes this a particularly dangerous matchup for Carmel.

Class 2A

No. 1 Guerin Catholic Hosts Mt. Vernon

Top-ranked Guerin Catholic puts an unbeaten record on the line against Mt. Vernon.

The Golden Eagles enter at 6-0-4 and remain No. 1 in Class 2A.

Mt. Vernon comes in at 7-4, giving Guerin another quality opponent as the regular season enters its second half.

No. 4 Park Tudor Hosts Greenfield-Central

One of Tuesday’s most intriguing games sends Greenfield-Central to No. 4 Park Tudor.

Park Tudor enters at 8-1-2, while Greenfield-Central is 8-1.

The records alone make this one of the night’s best games.

Greenfield-Central isn’t in the ISCA 3A Top 20 this week, but an 8-1 record means Park Tudor faces a significant challenge.

No. 6 Covenant Christian Hosts Speedway

No. 6 Covenant Christian welcomes Speedway.

Covenant Christian enters at 6-1, while Speedway is 5-4.

It’s another opportunity for the Warriors to strengthen their résumé after moving up into the upper tier of the Class 2A rankings.

No. 9 Heritage Hills at Evansville Harrison

No. 9 Heritage Hills takes its 6-2-1 record to Evansville Harrison.

The Patriots continue to establish themselves as one of southern Indiana’s strongest Class 2A programs.

No. 13 Speedway at No. 6 Covenant Christian

Speedway itself is ranked 13th in the newest ISCA Class 2A poll, meaning the Covenant Christian matchup is actually a Top-15 showdown.

That makes this one of the biggest Class 2A games on Tuesday’s schedule.

No. 17 Bremen Hosts Glenn

No. 17 Bremen enters at 6-1-1 and hosts Glenn.

Bremen has steadily climbed the Class 2A rankings and has an opportunity to continue building momentum.

No. 20 Charlestown Hosts Austin

No. 20 Charlestown hosts Austin.

Charlestown enters at 3-1-3, while Austin is looking for its first victory.

Class 1A

No. 14 South Knox Hosts No. 20 Barr-Reeve

One of southern Indiana’s best small-school matchups takes place at South Knox.

No. 14 South Knox enters at 6-1-2 and hosts No. 20 Barr-Reeve, which comes in at 8-2.

The records and rankings make this one of Tuesday’s best Class 1A matches.

No. 5 Westview Hosts Prairie Heights

No. 5 Westview welcomes Prairie Heights.

Westview enters at 6-3-2 and remains one of the highest-ranked teams in Class 1A.

No. 6 Oldenburg Academy Visits Franklin County

No. 6 Oldenburg Academy travels to Franklin County.

Oldenburg enters at 7-3, while Franklin County is still searching for its first victory.

The Twisters will be favored, but every result becomes increasingly important as the postseason approaches.

No. 10 Scecina Hosts Indianapolis Washington

No. 10 Scecina hosts Indianapolis Washington.

Scecina enters at 4-3 and will look to strengthen its position inside the Class 1A Top 10.

No. 11 Bethesda Christian Hosts Herron

No. 11 Bethesda Christian enters at 7-3 and hosts Herron.

Bethesda has established itself as one of the stronger teams in Class 1A and has another opportunity to build its résumé Tuesday.

No. 12 White River Valley Hosts Washington Catholic

No. 12 White River Valley welcomes Washington Catholic.

The Wolverines enter at 7-2 and continue to put together an impressive regular season.

No. 13 Southwestern Hosts Morristown

No. 13 Southwestern hosts Morristown.

Southwestern enters at 6-2-2 and has an opportunity to continue climbing the Class 1A rankings.

No. 16 Tell City Visits South Spencer

No. 16 Tell City travels to South Spencer.

Tell City enters at 3-5, while South Spencer is looking for its first victory.

No. 19 Christian Academy Hosts Silver Creek

No. 19 Christian Academy meets Silver Creek.

Christian Academy enters at 4-2-1, while Silver Creek comes in at 5-2.

The records make this another potentially difficult matchup for a ranked Class 1A program.

Tuesday’s Games of the Night

There are several excellent choices, but the two Class 3A ranked-vs-ranked games headline the evening.

No. 4 Zionsville at No. 11 Noblesville features two established state powers, while No. 6 Fishers at No. 14 Brownsburg gives the Tigers another opportunity to strengthen an already impressive résumé.

Class 2A has a ranked showdown of its own with No. 13 Speedway visiting No. 6 Covenant Christian.

And in Class 1A, southern Indiana gets a particularly interesting matchup as No. 20 Barr-Reeve visits No. 14 South Knox.

Meanwhile, all three classes have highly ranked teams facing potentially dangerous unranked opponents. No. 1 Bloomington South gets Cathedral, No. 1 Guerin Catholic meets Mt. Vernon, and several of the state’s other Top-10 teams are in action.

With the new ISCA rankings barely 24 hours old, Tuesday night provides the first chance to see which teams can defend their positions and which programs might make a case to move up next week.

Indiana High School Girls Soccer Preview: Ranked Showdowns Highlight Busy Tuesday

Tuesday brings a loaded night of Indiana high school girls soccer, with nearly 70 matches scheduled around the state and several contests involving teams in the latest Indiana Soccer Coaches Association Top 20.

The headliners include a Top-20 battle between Mishawaka Marian and Penn in Class 3A, a pair of ranked Class 2A matchups, and several of the state’s No. 1 teams taking the field.

3A: No. 11 Penn Hosts No. 16 Mishawaka Marian

One of Tuesday’s best matches comes in northern Indiana when 3A No. 16 Mishawaka Marian visits No. 11 Penn.

Marian enters at 7-2, while Penn sits at 6-2-1.

With both programs sitting inside the 3A Top 20, this is an opportunity for Marian to move up the rankings and for Penn to strengthen its position among the better teams in the class.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

3A No. 15 East Central Faces 7-1 Greensburg

Another intriguing matchup sends Greensburg to 3A No. 15 East Central.

The records make this one particularly interesting: both teams enter at 7-1.

East Central carries the ISCA ranking, but Greensburg’s start makes this anything but an easy night for the Trojans. A Greensburg victory would certainly give voters something to consider in the next poll.

3A No. 10 Crown Point Meets Chesterton

No. 10 Crown Point hosts Chesterton at 6:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs enter at 6-2-2, while Chesterton comes in at 4-4. Crown Point has established itself as a Top-10 team in Class 3A and will look to protect that position against a familiar northwest Indiana opponent.

Castle Visits 2A No. 2 Evansville Memorial

One of southern Indiana’s biggest games sends Castle across Evansville to face 2A No. 2 Evansville Memorial.

Memorial enters at 7-2 and remains one of the leading contenders in Class 2A.

Castle is 4-4, but the Knights provide Memorial with another test against a large-school opponent. For the Tigers, Tuesday is another opportunity to strengthen an already impressive résumé as the postseason draws closer.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

2A No. 6 Guerin Catholic at No. 12 Heritage Christian

There is another ranked-on-ranked battle in Class 2A when No. 6 Guerin Catholic visits No. 12 Heritage Christian.

Guerin enters at 1-5, but the Golden Eagles have played the type of difficult schedule that can make the record deceiving.

Heritage Christian comes in at 4-4-1.

With two ranked teams meeting head-to-head, this matchup could have a direct impact on next week’s Class 2A poll.

2A No. 1 South Bend Saint Joseph Faces South Bend Adams

The top-ranked team in Class 2A is also in action.

No. 1 South Bend Saint Joseph meets South Bend Adams at 7 p.m.

Saint Joseph enters at 6-2-2, while Adams comes in at 5-2-1. That makes this another dangerous matchup for a highly ranked team.

The Huskies have an opportunity to score one of the night’s biggest upsets, while Saint Joseph looks to reinforce its position atop Class 2A.

Reitz Takes on 2A No. 5 Mater Dei

There’s another big Evansville-area matchup as Reitz faces 2A No. 5 Evansville Mater Dei.

Mater Dei enters unbeaten at 7-0-1, while Reitz is 5-4-1.

The Wildcats have put themselves among the top contenders in 2A, and Tuesday gives them an opportunity to keep that unbeaten record intact against a city rival.

2A No. 9 Batesville Puts Perfect Record on the Line

No. 9 Batesville takes a perfect 9-0 record into its road match against Rushville.

Batesville has climbed into the Top 10 in Class 2A and is becoming one of the more interesting teams to follow as the regular season enters its latter stages.

Another victory would move the Bulldogs to 10-0.

2A Ranked Battle: Hanover Central vs. Kankakee Valley

Northwest Indiana also gets a ranked Class 2A matchup with No. 16 Hanover Central hosting No. 20 Kankakee Valley.

Kankakee Valley enters unbeaten at 7-0-1, while Hanover Central is 6-2.

That makes this one of Tuesday’s most compelling matches regardless of ranking. Kankakee Valley has a chance to make a significant jump in the next poll with a road victory over another ranked opponent.

1A No. 1 Westview Faces Central Noble

The state’s top-ranked Class 1A team is back in action as No. 1 Westview visits Central Noble.

Westview enters at 8-3, while Central Noble is still looking for its first victory.

The Warriors will be favored, but at this point of the season every performance matters as Westview tries to maintain the No. 1 ranking heading toward October.

1A No. 8 Oak Hill Looks to Stay Perfect

One of Indiana’s remaining undefeated teams is No. 8 Oak Hill.

The Golden Eagles enter Tuesday at a perfect 10-0 and host Eastern at 5:30 p.m.

Oak Hill’s record makes it a team worth watching closely. Despite sitting eighth in the ISCA rankings, a 10-0 start gives the Golden Eagles an argument for continued movement up the Class 1A poll.

Other Ranked Teams in Action

There are ranked teams scattered throughout Tuesday’s schedule.

1A No. 3 Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian faces unbeaten Fort Wayne Northrop. Blackhawk is 7-1, while Northrop enters at 9-0, making this one of the night’s most fascinating games.

1A No. 12 Bremen faces Glenn.

1A No. 14 White River Valley hosts Washington Catholic.

1A No. 15 Lakewood Park Christian faces Fort Wayne Bishop Luers.

1A No. 17 Shawe Memorial hosts Trinity Lutheran.

1A No. 19 South Knox hosts Pike Central.

In Class 2A, No. 4 Brebeuf Jesuit visits Roncalli, No. 7 Bishop Dwenger faces Fort Wayne South Side, No. 15 Delta visits New Castle and No. 19 West Lafayette faces Western.

Class 3A also features No. 17 Warsaw hosting Culver Academies.

Tuesday’s Headliners

There are several candidates, but No. 11 Penn against No. 16 Mishawaka Marian stands out in Class 3A, while No. 6 Guerin Catholic against No. 12 Heritage Christian and No. 16 Hanover Central against No. 20 Kankakee Valley give Class 2A a pair of ranked matchups.

Don’t overlook Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian against Northrop, either. The Braves are ranked third in Class 1A, but Northrop enters the night unbeaten at 9-0.

And in southern Indiana, Castle at No. 2 Evansville Memorial and Reitz against unbeaten No. 5 Mater Dei give the Evansville area two games with significant postseason-caliber competition.

With 69 matches scheduled statewide and ranked teams from all three classes in action, Tuesday should be one of the busier nights of the week in Indiana high school girls soccer.

Indiana Men’s College Soccer Preview: Mayor’s Cup Headlines Tuesday Slate

Tuesday’s Indiana men’s college soccer schedule may be small, but it features three intriguing matchups, highlighted by an Evansville rivalry, Notre Dame returning home after a nationally significant road victory, and Hanover College taking on an NCAA Division I opponent.

Detroit Mercy at Notre Dame — 7 p.m. ET

Notre Dame returns to Alumni Stadium Tuesday night as the Fighting Irish welcome Detroit Mercy to South Bend.

The Irish enter the match at 3-1-2 overall and are coming off their biggest victory of the young season, a 1-0 road win over No. 17 Clemson. That victory moved Notre Dame to 1-0 in ACC play and continued a strong recent stretch for the Irish.

Goalkeeper Blake Kelly has been one of the keys. Kelly enters Tuesday leading the ACC with 26 saves and recorded four stops in the shutout at Clemson.

Detroit Mercy comes to South Bend at 1-5-1 overall and 0-2 in Horizon League play.

History also favors Notre Dame. The Irish lead the all-time series 13-2 and have won the last two meetings, including a 3-1 victory in 2024.

The challenge for Notre Dame is avoiding a letdown following the emotional road victory at Clemson. The Irish have a major ACC trip to Stanford coming Sunday, but first they need to take care of business at home.

Kickoff: 7 p.m. ET
Location: Alumni Stadium, South Bend

Hanover at Bellarmine — 7 p.m. ET

Hanover College gets a unique opportunity Tuesday when the Division III Panthers travel to Louisville to face NCAA Division I Bellarmine.

The Panthers enter at 1-2-1 following a difficult opening stretch.

Hanover opened the season with a dominant 6-0 victory over Spalding before battling Denison to a scoreless draw. Since then, the Panthers have dropped a 3-0 decision at Kenyon and a narrow 2-1 match at Washington University in St. Louis.

Now comes an even bigger challenge.

Bellarmine represents the first of two Division I opponents on Hanover’s 2026 schedule. The other comes October 9 when the Panthers make the trip to Bloomington to face Indiana University.

Tuesday’s result won’t necessarily define Hanover’s season, but the match gives the Panthers an opportunity to measure themselves against Division I competition before Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play begins later this month.

Kickoff: 7 p.m. ET
Location: Owsley B. Frazier Stadium, Louisville

Southern Indiana at Evansville — 8 p.m. ET

The marquee Indiana matchup Tuesday night comes in Evansville with the fifth annual Mayor’s Cup.

Evansville welcomes crosstown rival Southern Indiana to Arad McCutchan Stadium with local bragging rights on the line.

The Purple Aces hold a 3-1 advantage in the all-time Mayor’s Cup series and won last year’s meeting 3-0.

Southern Indiana enters Tuesday at 0-3-2, but the Screaming Eagles came extremely close to breaking through Saturday at Marquette. USI led for much of the match before ultimately falling 3-2 in the closing minutes.

That performance gives the Screaming Eagles something to build on heading into their rivalry match.

For Evansville, playing at Arad McCutchan Stadium provides an opportunity to continue its control of the young series.

Records often take a back seat in rivalry matches, and with the two campuses separated by only a few miles, the Mayor’s Cup should once again provide plenty of intensity.

Kickoff: 7 p.m. CT / 8 p.m. ET
Location: Arad McCutchan Stadium, Evansville

Tuesday’s Indiana Men’s College Soccer Schedule

Time (ET) Matchup Location
7:00 p.m. Detroit Mercy at Notre Dame South Bend, Ind.
7:00 p.m. Hanover at Bellarmine Louisville, Ky.
8:00 p.m. Southern Indiana at Evansville Evansville, Ind.

Tuesday’s Headliner

The Mayor’s Cup between Evansville and Southern Indiana gets the spotlight.

It’s an opportunity for Evansville to maintain its upper hand in the crosstown rivalry, while USI enters hungry for its first victory of the season after nearly breaking through at Marquette.

Notre Dame is also worth watching closely. The Irish are coming off a statement victory at No. 17 Clemson and will look to carry that momentum into Tuesday’s home match against Detroit Mercy.

And for Hanover, a trip to Division I Bellarmine offers the Panthers a rare chance to test themselves against scholarship-level competition.

Indiana College Women’s Soccer Preview: Ranked NAIA Tests Highlight Tuesday Slate

Indiana’s college women’s soccer slate takes center stage Tuesday with several intriguing matchups, including ranked NAIA programs hitting the road, an in-state Division III showdown, and teams looking to build momentum as conference play approaches.

Marian at No. 23 Northwestern Ohio — 3 p.m.

One of the biggest matches involving an Indiana program sends Marian University to Lima, Ohio, to face No. 23 Northwestern Ohio.

The Knights have put together an impressive start, entering the matchup unbeaten after wins over St. Francis (Ill.), St. Ambrose, No. 20 USAO, Saint Xavier and Olivet Nazarene, along with a scoreless draw against then-No. 2 Cumberlands.

Marian has shown it can both score in bunches and defend at a high level. The Knights scored seven against St. Francis, six against St. Ambrose and five against Saint Xavier, while also recording clean sheets against USAO and Cumberlands.

Tuesday gives Marian another opportunity to make a national statement before Crossroads League play begins.

Earlham vs. Ohio Christian — 4 p.m.

Earlham returns home looking to break into the win column when the Quakers host Ohio Christian at Matlack-Messer Soccer Stadium in Richmond.

The Quakers have endured a difficult opening stretch, including a 6-0 loss to IU East on Saturday. Tuesday provides Earlham with an opportunity to reset before an eight-day break leading into its next match against Muskingum.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Grace at Lawrence Tech — 5 p.m.

Nationally ranked Grace College heads to Southfield, Michigan, for a road test against Lawrence Tech.

The Lancers have already demonstrated their quality this season, including a convincing 6-0 victory over Indiana Tech. Lawrence Tech, meanwhile, has already seen plenty of Indiana opposition, playing Goshen, IU East, Bethel, Taylor, Saint Francis and Huntington during its early-season schedule.

Grace enters as one of Indiana’s teams to watch nationally, and Tuesday represents another important nonconference opportunity before the Crossroads League schedule heats up.

Indiana Tech vs. Calumet College of St. Joseph — 5 p.m.

It will be an all-Indiana matchup in Fort Wayne as Indiana Tech welcomes Calumet College of St. Joseph to Warrior Athletic Field.

Indiana Tech enters after earning its first victory of the season, defeating Midway 3-1. The Warriors had faced a demanding early schedule that included Grace, Taylor and Campbellsville before breaking through against Midway.

Calumet, meanwhile, is coming off a 6-0 loss to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods on Saturday.

For Indiana Tech, Tuesday is an opportunity to turn its victory over Midway into the beginning of a positive run.

Franklin vs. DePauw — 7 p.m.

One of Tuesday’s most interesting in-state Division III matchups takes place at Faught Stadium as Franklin College hosts DePauw.

DePauw enters at 3-2 in its five regular-season matches listed since September 1, with victories over Manchester, Concordia Chicago and Hanover. The Tigers’ defense was particularly effective in the wins over Concordia Chicago and Hanover, recording consecutive clean sheets.

Franklin has experienced an up-and-down start. The Grizzlies own victories over Olivet and Knox but have dropped matches against Blackburn, Wilmington and Saint Mary’s.

With two Indiana programs meeting under the lights, this should be one of the better local matchups on Tuesday’s schedule.

Rose-Hulman at Webster — 7:30 p.m.

Rose-Hulman travels to St. Louis looking to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to No. 1 WashU.

The Fightin’ Engineers had been rolling before that defeat, earning victories over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Millikin and Greenville. Rose-Hulman scored 14 goals across those three victories, including seven in its win over Greenville.

After facing the nation’s No. 1 team, Tuesday’s trip to Webster gives Rose-Hulman a chance to quickly get back on track before returning home Friday against Spalding.
