Conference: 4-0 in the Duneland as of 9/17/26
Coach: Dave Bock
Key player: Lily Maldonado
Other names to know: Reily Beach, Rachel Mumaugh, Cecelia Parker, Palyn Burk
Crown Point has built one of the stronger résumés in this sectional. The Bulldogs have played a difficult schedule that includes South Bend Saint Joseph, Homestead, Northridge, Lake Central, McCutcheon, Center Grove and Fishers. Among the notable recent results were an 8-0 victory over McCutcheon and 2-1 victory over Fishers, while Center Grove edged Crown Point 1-0.
Lily Maldonado is the offensive player to watch. Through the latest available statistical update, the sophomore had 8 goals and 7 assists for 23 points. Reily Beach has also been involved in the attack. Rachel Mumaugh had recorded 14 saves in goal.
Crown Point’s depth may be particularly important in a sectional setting. Its 2026 roster includes a large group of returning juniors and seniors along with several underclassmen, including Sophia Maldonado, Ana Petrovska, Addie King, Emilia Loskoski and Brooklyn Rosenbaum.
Sectional outlook: Crown Point brings a combination of schedule strength, scoring ability and depth. Its games against Lake Central and Munster are particularly useful measuring sticks because both are potential sectional opponents.
Lake Central Indians
Record: 5-2-1 entering this week
Goals: 20
Goals allowed: 8
Key player: Liana Navarro
Goalkeeper: Olivia Kleckner
Lake Central’s profile is built around defense. The Indians had allowed only eight goals through eight reported matches, while scoring 20. Their 5-2-1 record included a 2-1 conference mark.
Liana Navarro is one of the players to circle. The midfielder had five goals and four assists in the available statistics. Olivia Kleckner had a 0.907 goals-against average, another indication of how difficult Lake Central can be to break down.
The Indians’ schedule has also given them some significant tests. They played Warsaw to a 0-0 draw, and Crown Point defeated Lake Central 2-1 earlier in the season.
Munster Mustangs
Record: 4-3-1 as of the September 14 reporting
Coach: V. Pflum
Assistant: Ryan Dunn
Munster’s early season was uneven, but the Mustangs have shown signs of becoming much more difficult defensively. They opened with losses to Carroll and Goshen before picking up wins over Lowell and Portage.
The most interesting recent result was a 1-0 victory over Lake Central on September 14. That pushed Munster to 4-3-1 at the time and extended its home winning streak to four matches dating to last season. Munster had not conceded a goal in any of those four home victories.
