Evansville Falls to Lindenwood, 3-1 in Women’s Soccer

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The University of Evansville women’s soccer team suffered its first loss of the season Thursday night as Lindenwood defeated the Purple Aces 3-1 at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
Lindenwood struck first in the 11th minute. Mackenzie Compton found the back of the net at the 10:58 mark to give the Lions an early 1-0 advantage.
The Purple Aces remained within a goal into the second half before finding the equalizer.
At 59:09, Lily Kytasaari scored her first goal of the season to pull Evansville even at 1-1. Brooklyn Robinson picked up the assist on the goal.
The tie did not last long.
Just under four minutes later, Compton struck again. Her second goal of the match came at 62:53 off an assist from Tasneem Dizdarevic, putting Lindenwood back in front 2-1.
Only 27 seconds later, the Lions added another.
Maddy Vasiloff scored at 63:20, with Compton providing the assist, to quickly stretch Lindenwood’s advantage to 3-1.
Compton played a role in all three Lindenwood goals, finishing the night with two goals and an assist.
The loss drops Evansville to 1-1-1 on the season, while Lindenwood improves to 2-3-0.
Evansville will look to bounce back as the Purple Aces continue the non-conference portion of their schedule.
