Grace College Falls 2-0 at Rio Grande in Men’s Soccer

Grace College men’s soccer wrapped up its early-season road swing Saturday with a 2-0 loss to Rio Grande at Evan E. Davis Field in Rio Grande, Ohio.

The loss dropped the Lancers to 2-2 on the season, while Rio Grande improved to 3-0-1.

Rio Grande’s Facundo Rossich provided all of the scoring, striking once in each half.

Rossich opened the scoring in the 13th minute, finishing a chance assisted by Allen Julian Jerkovich to give the RedStorm a 1-0 advantage. Grace was unable to find an equalizer before halftime, sending Rio Grande into the break with the one-goal lead.

Grace became much more dangerous offensively after halftime. The Lancers were limited to just two shots in the opening 45 minutes but generated eight attempts in the second half.

Rio Grande, however, doubled its advantage in the 63rd minute. At 62:50, Rossich struck for his second goal of the match, this time off an assist from Hakim Musabbah, putting the RedStorm ahead 2-0.

Grace finished with 10 shots, including four on goal, while Rio Grande recorded 12 shots with five on target. The RedStorm held a narrow 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Josh Cruz led Grace’s attack with three shots, including one on goal. Teague Misner recorded two shots with one on frame, while Eric Favere and Felix Voigt also put attempts on target.

Rio Grande goalkeeper Samy Hamou stopped all four Grace shots on goal to earn the shutout.

For the Lancers, Louie Aldus was credited with three saves as Rio Grande put five of its 12 attempts on target.

The result leaves Grace at 2-2-0 through its first four matches of the 2026 season.
