Indiana Wesleyan Draws with Olivet Nazarene in Men’s Soccer

Indiana Wesleyan and 25th-ranked Olivet Nazarene battled to a 1-1 draw in Marion.
Olivet Nazarene wasted almost no time getting on the scoreboard. Just 42 seconds into the match, Niels Noordhoek scored off an assist from Atjon Thaqi, putting the Tigers ahead 1-0.
Indiana Wesleyan responded later in the opening half.
In the 32nd minute, Yarek Carnegie found the back of the net off an assist from Jose Garcia, pulling the Wildcats even at 1-1. It was Carnegie’s second goal of the season.
The Wildcats controlled much of the attacking pressure, outshooting Olivet Nazarene 12-3 and putting four shots on goal. Indiana Wesleyan also finished with an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.
IWU nearly found the game-winner late. In the 89th minute, Guzman Trigo fired a shot that hit the post, keeping the match tied.
Kadin Wolfe made one save in goal for Indiana Wesleyan, while Olivet Nazarene goalkeeper Jacob Robinson recorded three saves.
The 1-1 draw moves Indiana Wesleyan to 1-0-1 on the season, while Olivet Nazarene moves to 2-0-1.
