Anderson Falls to Olivet, 1-0, Despite Holding Edge in Chances

Anderson University controlled much of the attacking play Saturday but couldn’t find the finishing touch, as the Ravens suffered a 1-0 loss to the University of Olivet at Macholtz Stadium.

The teams played through a scoreless opening half despite Anderson generating the better share of opportunities. The Ravens took seven first-half shots compared with four for Olivet, but neither side could break through.

The decisive moment came in the 63rd minute. Olivet’s Samuel Bistrek scored his first goal of the season, finishing an assist from Marcel Jackson to put the Comets in front 1-0.

Anderson pushed for an equalizer over the final 27 minutes but couldn’t solve Olivet goalkeeper Nicholas Van Port Fleet. He stopped all five shots on goal he faced to preserve the shutout.

The Ravens finished with an 11-8 advantage in total shots and put five attempts on target compared with four for Olivet. Anderson also generated all five corner kicks in the match, while Olivet did not record a corner.

Wesley Lewis led Anderson with three shots, including two on goal. Carson Reed and Ben Holliday each attempted two shots, while Cohen Wintin and Max Tucker also put attempts on frame.

Anderson goalkeeper Braydon Kennedy made three saves and allowed only Bistrek’s second-half winner.

The loss drops Anderson to 1-4 on the season, while Olivet remains perfect at 4-0.
