Bethel, Lawrence Tech Battle to Scoreless Draw

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Bethel University women’s soccer battled Lawrence Tech to a 0-0 draw Friday afternoon at Blue Devil Stadium.
The Pilots moved to 2-1-1 on the season with the result, while Lawrence Tech moved to 2-0-1. Neither side was able to find the back of the net over the full 90 minutes.
Both teams generated opportunities during the opening half. Bethel’s Ashley Lopez Cruz and Kayden Firsdon each forced saves, while Stephanie Crawley and Abigail Gray tested Pilots goalkeeper Isabella Ferreira at the opposite end.
Bethel’s best opportunity to grab the lead came in the 56th minute. Lopez Cruz stepped to the penalty spot, but Lawrence Tech goalkeeper Trinity Vallejo turned away the attempt to keep the match scoreless.
Neither team could produce a breakthrough over the final 34 minutes.
Lopez Cruz led the Pilots with two shots, putting both on goal. Firsdon and Hannah Thomas each recorded one shot on goal.
Ferreira went the full 90 minutes in goal for Bethel and recorded three saves to earn the clean sheet.
Bethel will return home Tuesday, September 1, when the Pilots host Aquinas College. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
