Valparaiso suffered a road defeat, falling to Western Michigan 2-0.

Western Michigan’s Sophia Bowman opened the scoring at 22:38, assisted by Tessa Fagerson.

Valpo stayed within one until the closing minutes, when Fagerson scored at 83:23 off an assist from Olivia Smith.

Valparaiso goalkeeper Salange Bell made five saves.

The Beacons actually outshot Western Michigan 9-6 during the second half but couldn’t find the breakthrough.
