A major moment came in the 58th minute, when Butler goalkeeper Addison Ash saved a Northwestern penalty kick to preserve the scoreless tie.
Northwestern eventually found the winner after the 68-minute mark.
Ash finished with five saves, giving her 21 through Butler’s first four matches. Lola Pepper produced four of Butler’s eight shots and had the Bulldogs’ only attempt on goal.
