Chicago Fire and Seattle Sounders Play to 2-2 Draw

Chicago Fire FC extended its MLS unbeaten streak to five matches Saturday with a 2-2 road draw against the Seattle Sounders at Lumen Field.

Seattle opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Dejan Joveljić found the back of the net.

Chicago answered before halftime. Maren Haile-Selassie scored his fifth goal of the season in the 38th minute, finishing a buildup involving Andrew Gutman and Robert Lewandowski to make it 1-1.

Seattle regained the lead just three minutes into the second half. Joveljić struck again in the 48th minute for his second goal of the afternoon.

But Chicago refused to go away.

In the 82nd minute, Puso Dithejane delivered a ball toward the near post and Lewandowski headed it home for his fourth MLS goal of the season, pulling the Fire even at 2-2.

Chicago had the better of the attacking numbers, outshooting Seattle 20-11 and putting 11 shots on goal compared with just three for the Sounders.

The Fire move to 11-6-and-4 with 37 points and remain third in the Eastern Conference. Chicago also finishes August with a 6-1-and-2 record across all competitions.

The Fire visit Toronto FC next Saturday.
