FC Cincinnati Blanked in Nashville

It was a difficult night in Nashville for FC Cincinnati, as the Orange and Blue were shut out 4-nil by Nashville SC at GEODIS Park.

Nashville broke through late in the opening half. Sam Surridge scored in the 43rd minute to send the hosts into halftime with a 1-nil advantage.

Cincinnati nearly answered early in the second half when Gerardo Valenzuela hit the post. Instead, Nashville doubled its advantage in the 54th minute on a goal from Hany Mukhtar.

FC Cincinnati continued creating opportunities. Kévin Denkey was denied from close range, while Ayoub Jabbari and Evander also threatened, but Nashville goalkeeper Brian Schwake and the defense kept Cincinnati off the board.

Nashville put the match away late. Bryan Acosta scored in the 90th minute before Ahmed Qasem added another six minutes into stoppage time to complete the 4-nil victory.

Despite the scoreline, Cincinnati actually put eight of its 14 shots on target. Nashville finished with 19 total shots and seven on goal.

FC Cincinnati falls to 8-7-and-7 with 31 points and sits sixth in the Eastern Conference. The Orange and Blue return home Saturday, September 5th, against D.C. United.
