Huntington Women Rally Past Lawrence Tech, 3-2

Huntington University women’s soccer produced a dramatic second-half comeback Wednesday night, scoring twice after halftime — including the game-winner in the closing minutes — to defeat Lawrence Tech, 3-2, at King Stadium.

Huntington opened the scoring in the 11th minute, but Lawrence Tech turned the match around with a stunning two-goal burst late in the opening half. Abigail Gray scored twice in less than a minute, striking in the 35th and 36th minutes. Presley Jones and Abby Mowery supplied the assists, and the Blue Devils suddenly carried a 2-1 advantage into halftime.

The Foresters had been generating the majority of the attacking pressure, and that began to pay off almost immediately after the restart. Huntington scored an unassisted equalizer in the 48th minute, pulling even at 2-2.

The match remained deadlocked for nearly the entire second half before Huntington finally broke through again.

In the 88th minute, the Foresters scored the game-winning goal to complete the comeback and secure the 3-2 victory. Lawrence Tech goalkeeper MC Michalak did everything she could to keep the Blue Devils in the match, finishing with nine saves.

The final numbers showed just how much pressure Huntington generated. The Foresters finished with a commanding 19-4 advantage in shots, overcoming Lawrence Tech’s brief first-half scoring surge to earn the victory.
