Indiana HS Girls Soccer Recap from Wednesday

Wednesday night brought another busy slate of girls high school soccer across Indiana, with ranked teams taking center stage and several important matchups highlighting the schedule.

The biggest confirmed result came in Class 3A, where #1 Hamilton Southeastern continued its perfect start with an 8-0 victory over Fishers.

The Royals dominated the Mudsock matchup, scoring eight times while keeping Fishers off the board. Hamilton Southeastern finished with 40 shots and seven assists and improved to 9-0 on the season. It was also the Royals’ third consecutive shutout.

HSE has quickly established itself as the team to beat in Class 3A. The Royals entered the week ranked #1 in the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association poll, ahead of Homestead, Carmel, Center Grove and Westfield.

Another significant result came in Indianapolis, where 3A #6 Cathedral defeated 2A #4 Brebeuf Jesuit 2-1.

It was one of Wednesday’s best cross-class matchups. Brebeuf entered the night among the top teams in Class 2A, while Cathedral was ranked sixth in a loaded 3A field. The Irish came away with the one-goal victory, handing Brebeuf its third loss of the season.

Western also put together an impressive performance Wednesday. The Panthers recorded a 4-0 victory over Lafayette Central Catholic, improving their record and adding another clean sheet to their résumé.

Class 3A #5 Westfield picked up a 1-0 road victory over #7 Noblesville. The Shamrocks found the lone goal they needed and made it stand behind a strong defensive performance, shutting out a talented Millers side in a battle between two of Indiana’s top Class 3A programs.

Class 3A #16 Mishawaka Marian earned a statement victory Wednesday night, knocking off Class 2A #1 South Bend Saint Joseph 2-1 in a Northern Indiana Conference showdown. After a scoreless opening 50 minutes, sophomore Grace Hanyzewski broke through to give Marian the lead before senior Kendall Bradley scored her 11th goal of the season to make it 2-0. Saint Joseph answered less than a minute later on a goal from freshman Molly McAward, but the Knights’ defense held off the Huskies’ late pressure to secure the upset and Marian’s fourth consecutive victory over Saint Joseph.

Full slate of available results as of early Thursday morning.
