IU Indy’s Annaliese Black Earns Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week

A big offensive performance has earned IU Indianapolis junior Annaliese Black recognition from the Horizon League.

Black has been named the Horizon League Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after playing a role in three goals during the Jaguars’ 5-2 victory over Bellarmine on September 3.

The junior midfielder scored the eventual game-winning goal and added two assists, accounting for four points in the victory. It was Black’s first multi-assist performance of the season.

Black made an impact almost immediately against the Knights.

In the sixth minute, Black played a long ball that found Lindsey Castillo, who finished the opportunity to give IU Indy an early 1-0 advantage.

Black collected her second assist in the 39th minute. She helped set up Hannah Roberson’s goal, which sent the Jaguars into halftime with a 2-1 lead.

Then Black took care of the scoring herself.
With IU Indy leading by one early in the second half, Caroline Kelley found Black for a goal in the 54th minute, extending the Jaguars’ advantage to 3-1. The goal ultimately stood as the game-winner.

IU Indy went on to earn the 5-2 victory, improving to 2-2-1 at the time. The Jaguars controlled much of the offensive action, outshooting Bellarmine 23-8 and putting 16 shots on goal.

Black’s performance continued an impressive start to her first season with the Jaguars.

Through IU Indy’s first five matches, Black leads the team with seven points, three assists, 16 shots and 10 shots on goal. Her three assists are tied for the Horizon League lead, while she ranks second in the conference in both shots and shots on goal.

The Olathe, Kansas, native joined IU Indy ahead of the 2026 season after spending her first two collegiate seasons at Mercyhurst University.

Black has quickly emerged as an important part of the Jaguars’ attack. She also scored in IU Indy’s 3-0 victory over Chicago State on August 30, giving her goals in consecutive matches.

Her latest performance has now earned her the conference’s top weekly offensive honor and provides another early-season boost for an IU Indy squad preparing for Horizon League competition.
