No. 3 Indiana Tech Hands Marian Second Loss, 2-0

No. 3 Indiana Tech continued its strong start to the 2026 season Saturday night, going on the road and shutting out Marian University, 2-0, at Ascension St. Vincent Field.

The matchup brought together two of Indiana’s strongest NAIA sides. Indiana Tech entered the weekend at 5-1-1 with two victories over nationally ranked opponents, while Marian came in at 6-1 after winning five straight, including a 6-0 victory over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

Indiana Tech was able to end that Marian winning streak, keeping one of the state’s hottest offenses off the scoreboard. The shutout is especially notable considering Marian had scored 19 goals during its five-game winning streak leading into Saturday.

For the Knights, it marks only their second defeat of the season and their first since August. Marian had reeled off victories over Aquinas, Governors State, IU Columbus, Judson and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods before running into the third-ranked Warriors.

The victory also adds another quality result to Indiana Tech’s résumé. The Warriors had already defeated two nationally ranked opponents this season and entered Saturday coming off a 2-1 victory over Huntington. The NAIA highlighted Indiana Tech’s early-season résumé when it placed the Warriors among the nation’s top-five teams entering the weekend.

Marian will have an opportunity to respond quickly. The Knights remain home to face IU East on Wednesday, September 16, at 7 p.m. before beginning Crossroads League play the following week.
