UIndy, Cedarville Battle to Scoreless Draw in Season Opener

CEDARVILLE, Ohio — The University of Indianapolis men’s soccer team opened its 2026 season with a defensive battle Thursday night, playing Cedarville to a 0-0 draw at Yellow Jacket Soccer Complex.

Neither side was able to break through during the 90-minute contest, although UIndy generated a slight advantage offensively. The Greyhounds outshot Cedarville 8-7 and put two shots on goal compared to one for the Yellow Jackets.

UIndy produced five of its eight shots during the opening half. Hugo Paturel led the Greyhounds with two shots, while Ryan Walsh and Shayne Abrams accounted for UIndy’s two attempts on goal.

The Greyhounds’ defense made sure the scoreless effort held up. Goalkeeper Rick Lammerts played all 90 minutes and made one save to record a clean sheet in his season debut. Cedarville goalkeeper Eben Dewhurst made two saves for the Yellow Jackets.

Cedarville held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks, including four in the opening half. UIndy was called for 16 fouls compared to 13 for Cedarville.

The match also featured three yellow cards. UIndy’s Owen Parrish was booked in the 39th minute, while Cedarville’s Pete Blair and Yonis Velasquez-Quezada received second-half cautions.

The draw leaves both UIndy and Cedarville at 0-0-1 to begin the 2026 campaign.
